I attended and successfully completed a rigorous training course provided by Core Solutions Group Limited. This encompassed training and assessment in mediation, mediation advocacy and mediation negotiation provided by Core in Belfast in November 2011 and January 2012.

I have been involved in mediation since the late noughties and was one of the original members of the Bar steering group.

I have been involved in mediations involving public bodies, commercial organisations and private clients. A large number of cases have involved multi party commercial disputes arising out of housing projects and public works. These have involved professional negligence of architects, quantity surveyors, engineers and accountants as well as the breach of contract of contractors and sub contractors. I have also been involved in disputes involving shareholders and directors rights and employment contracts. Whilst the majority of the cases have been multiparty commercial disputes , I have also acted for individuals in often fraught and very emotive cases.

I was called to the Bar in 1981. I studied at Queen’s University, Belfast as a result of a merit based scholarship from Campbell College Belfast.

I am on the barristers/advocates panel of public bodies, major insurers and multinational companies. I am also instructed on a regular basis by law firms outside Northern Ireland.

I have an extensive practise in the Commercial Court and Queen’s Bench Division involving commercial disputes of all types as well as personal injury claims.
