My Approach to Mediation

I believe that Mediation :

• offers a flexible, confidential and cost effective opportunity for the parties to reach a mutually acceptable outcome which is customised to the parties’ needs and particular issues of a dispute;
• allows the parties the freedom and privacy to explore and find the best overall solutions for them;
• is an invaluable and efficient process, capable of adaptation to suit any dispute and time-frame.

As a Mediator I appreciate the parties’ needs and interests in reaching a quick, economical, fair or commercial outcome and I facilitate the parties genuinely engaging in Mediation to achieve the best workable solution for them in a focussed, timely and cost-effective manner.

My Mediation Training & Experience

In 2013 I was accredited as a Mediator by Core Solutions Group Ltd and awarded the Core Certificate of Competence in Mediation Skills.

I strive to update my skills by participating in ongoing Mediation Continuing Professional Development organised by the Bar Council, Core Solutions Group Ltd and QuEST and also attended the Commonwealth Lawyers’ Association Mediation Conference & various Mediation Master Classes since 2013.

I have been involved in mediation since 2012 with particular experience in Commercial multi-party Mediation and have been a member of Dispute Resolution Service/Mediators NI since 2013.

Having been called to the Bar in 1993, I have, over the last 25 years, honed the skills to comprehend and analyse complex factual situations involving various legal issues and/or parties, grasp the key issues quickly and consider or explore the various options to resolve the dispute.

With my experience as a Barrister, I bring a unique mix of impartiality, detachment, integrity, humanity, judgement, organisation and flexibility to my role as a Mediator. My extensive experience in managing a broad spectrum of clients enhances my effectiveness in relating to and building a rapport with parties in Mediation.
