My Approach to Mediation

The approach and philosophy that I adopt towards mediation is that, as both the parties involved are prepared to undertake mediation, and to pay for it, then it is paramount to bring the matter to a conclusion in a manner that is expedient, proper, acceptable and workable for all involved.  Mediation is a process to understand the root of the explicit and unseen problems of whatever nature between whosoever and a chance to create solutions for these problems in a ‘win win’ situation, so that all parties can move forward with their lives.  Each and every party to a mediation must be prepared to undergo a process with a view to honesty, integrity, openness, frankness and completeness. The end result of this process is to arrive at a mutually agreeable conclusion that is workable, practical and suitable.

My Mediation Training & Experience

I have received training from Core Solutions in 2011 and qualified in 2012.  I then completed training with QuEST mediation to allow me to become accredited with the Bar Council to mediate Family disputes.

I have mediation experience in commercial, construction, agricultural, family and matrimonial, probate, property, and employment law.  I have also been involed in a property arbitration.

I have experience in high money value cases involving upwards of £20 million and other cases where little money at all has been involved.   The same set of principles is applied.

My Legal Background

I have been a barrister for 18 years and have extensive experience. I work primarily in family and matrimonial law, in particular child law and ancillary relief. I have also experience in commercial, criminal, company, employment, agricultural, trust, property, wills and estates. I utilize the principles of mediation on a regular basis throughout my work and I find this particularly helpful in getting the client to have an overview of the situation and possible outcomes, which in turn gives the clients the opportunity to exert some control and/or direction over the final outcome so that it is as suitable as possible for their needs and wants.
